This book rises several steps beyond allopathic medicine - Bringing a unique perspective to the healing process

As a professional Massage Therapist, with over 25 years experience, & also an energy-worker, specializing in the ancient healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu, I'm always doing research in some form or other. I wanted to learn more about the fascinating realm of the endocrine system, due to knowing so many people with health issues relating to the thyroid, which is one of the parts of the body it is connected with.
This book not only gets into the basics of the endocrine system, it also addresses the subject from the perspective of complementary & alternative healing, which goes far beyond the standard medical understanding to what I consider to be the blueprint of the body. Addressing health via TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) the meridians aka the energetic pathways in the body & 5 element theory, brings a very different way of looking at how the entire network of systems operate.
The Subtle Body/Metaphysical approach comes into play explaining "The Seven Sheaths", "The Nadis", and The Chakras and goes on to suggest a number of layers of healing modalities that can be utilized as a part of the healing journey.
The body is more than just physical, but rather is made up of "electrical & energetic" circuitry which send signals to all the organs, & helps to perform all the necessary functions of life (both voluntary & involuntary).
Our body functions include the production of hormones that help to maintain the organs & tissues, as well as many other vital effects relating to your health. Because the endocrine system is directly linked to the reproductive function, growth and sexual development, overall energy levels, responses to stress and injury, plus bone and muscle strength, it is crucially important to understand it!
The Endocrine System includes many glands and organs, with different functions, that work together to maintain your health.
The glands of the endocrine system:
Adrenal glands - Affect the way the body uses energy, releasing adrenaline hormones (the fight or flight effect) when you are under stress
Hypothalamus - This is the segment of the brain that regulates hormone production by releasing different chemicals to the pituitary gland
Ovaries - produce estrogen and progesterone in women, and also release egg cells
Pancreas - releases the insulin needed to metabolize sugar; problems with the pancreas can lead to diabetes
Parathyroid - located behind the thyroid gland, they are essential for proper bone development
Pineal gland - connects the endocrine system with the nervous system; produces several important hormones, including melatonin, important to sleep/wake cycles and sexual development
Pituitary gland - likely the most important gland in your body, it is crucial to growth, mental development and reproduction; influences or controls the rest of your endocrine system
Testes - produces the hormone testosterone; in men, thus maintaining sperm production and bone mass
Thymus - crucial to normal immune function in childhood; once a child reaches puberty, its tissue is replaced by fat
Thyroid gland - located in the front of the neck, it releases hormones that controls the metabolism and controls the way your body uses energy
Since this system is directly linked to producing, storing and releasing hormones, it also affects to your moods & whether they are all over the place, or stable, as well as many reproductive issues from the childbearing years through menopause, which is crucial to your quality of life, for women. When everything goes smoothly, your body functions properly, but when it is constantly bombarded by foods & chemicals that disrupt it - everything becomes chaotic at best.
With the world we live in today, the hormonal imbalances experienced by people are growing daily. This is being caused by the plastic bottles we drink water & other beverages from, the GE & GMO foods we eat, the toxic pesticides that are applied in agriculture & on many properties, as well as the chemical preservatives, such as parabens, found in so many household items, health & beauty aid products (creams & lotions, makeup, soaps & shampoos). In turn both our own DNA & our unborn children are being affected , as are many creatures in nature, due to the hormone disrupting affects of toxic pesticides being used environmentally.
