About the Author
Mary Colbert is the wife of Dr. Don Colbert. They have two sons, six grandsons, and one granddaughter. One of eight children raised in a military home, she attended Oral Roberts University where she met her husband. Mary is a graduate of Rhema Bible School and is an ordained minister. Along with her husband of 35 years, she co-authored the New York Times bestseller Seven Pillars of Health. The Colberts live in Orlando, Florida.

Could be titled....keep these people at arms length even as friends!

A fun read...while this book is title 13 women you should not marry....it's a lot more than that. I feel blessed to have a gift for reading people. Not everyone can be so lucky. But after you hit a certain age you come to realize there are personality "types" and they can be women or Men that you have met many times with different names but they are not new to you with their quirks. Jill is just like sally that you met four years before. As parents we try to help our sons or daughters choose wisely with who they hang out with date etc.
As I read this book I see why Mary having 6 grandsons would want to write this for all of them.
I must say though that I know many Men that are like these women "all about appearances" "controlling men" etc. So to me this book gives good advice for Everyone.
As a women I chose to have a small circle of friends I prefer quality to quanity. I may be nice to all these personality types but I do not want to spend a lot of time with them. And we can only hope and pray that our sons don't marry one either.
This book is written as if a friend was sharing their experiences and backed up with scripture for each category. I see many men have the same woundings and same issues. Depending on what age that you marry hopefully people grow and mature out of these habits. But studies have shown that often times people get stuck at a certain age because of childhood woundings. I have a good friend who's mother is still 13 emotionally she will forever be the center of attention and a true narcissist.
Remember ...."A son is a son until he takes a wife, but a daughter is a daughter for the rest of her life!" Having a 32 year old son and a 25 year old daughter I know first hand it's a fact. You can treat your daughter-in-law like gold but sometimes this still happens.

I just got her book last week. I read it and it is fantastic for anyone to read! Yes, it is directed to young single men. But if you are a woman who wants to improve yourself for your husband, this book would help you too!
