Very Good book with online Virtual Labs

The book is easy to follow and offers step-by-step instructions to install and configure Windows 7 for the 70-680 Microsoft Certification Exam.

PROS: I've yet to take the certification exam but what I really like about this book are the virtual labs. You feel like you are actually working on a Windows 7 computer. You actually use an image file to install Win7, configure it, add users, and it's all done online so you don't have to have Windows 7 at home to prepare for this test (or worry about screwing up your home computer with Windows 7).

Cons: The virtual labs sometimes take a long time to load and at times do not load at all. I've discovered that later in the evening is the best time. Also, in other courses I've taken, they've offered either a Certblaster or RealExam so you can practice taking the questions for the final certification exam - this course does not. Lastly, once you activate your virtual labs, there is a time limit that they are available. I took the course in the Summer and my virtual labs were available to me until December. After that I only have the book to study as there is no CD with the labs for a standalone computer that you can study later.

Epic Fail

I just took the exam this morning and I was shocked. I read the book and completed the test assignments on Wiley's website and felt pretty prepared. I've been working with Windows 7 since it was in Beta. I've used ImageX for creating image files and set up a used a Windows Deployment Server and many other things that the book covers. In fact, the book was mostly review for me, which should have been my first clue that something was wrong.

When I took the exam, there might have been 1 or 2 questions that were actually covered by the book. The rest I had to dig deep to try and remember from my actual experience. And some stuff I just didn't know, such as the correct switch to use for a specific command line tool.

After reading reviews of other books it seems to me that there isn't any one book that covers it all, everyone seems to need to use multiple sources. This test is by far the hardest Cert test I've ever taken, and I've taken a few.

I got my book ordered and shipped to me in about a week. It came in good condition. It would have been nice if it had an access code. That wasn't very clear.

About the Author
Harry Wilmer is founder, emeritus director and president of the Institute for the Humanities at Salado in the small central Texas village where he has lived since 1971. He is a senior Jungian analyst in private practice in Salado. Wilmer received his M.D. and other degrees from the University of Minnesota. He has been a National Research Council fellow in the medical sciences at Johns Hopkins, a fellow in internal medicine and neuropsychiatry at the Mayo Clinic, and later a consultant in psychiatry there. His creative work in the Navy was the subject of an award-winning ABC docudrama, starring Lee Marvin and with Arthur Kennedy as Wilmer. Bill Moyers produced two PBS-TV documentaries on Wilmer's work at the Salado institute and he has authored numerous books and articles, and lectured throughout the world. He and his wife Jane raised five children.

Great book.

I enjoyed his book and took many lessons from it. His book is the type of book, where you either find meaning in it or don't. Simply put if your willing to read all the stories and tangent subjects than you'll enjoy it. Overall it is a book that was well worth the read and well worth the money. I'd love to chat with him in person.

Pappé (A History of Modern Palestine) chronicles over two centuries of Palestinian history through the lens of a prominent clan who figured in all aspects of Palestinian life, from the early 1700s through the declaration of the state of Israel. Pappé's depiction of major historical events "through the eyes of the family and not just from an 'objective' historical perspective" creates an absorbing narrative that retains its integrity as an accurate scholarly account: he wisely resists imagining dialogue and other fiction techniques, instead presenting a straightforward account based on meticulous research. The ubiquitous presence of the Husaynis in Palestinian politics and communities is impressive, from Abd al-Latif, who "controlled every aspect of life in Jerusalem" in the mid-18th century; to Tahir al-Husayni II, a senior religious official who recognized Jewish immigration as a "threat" as early as 1897, when few were immigrating; to Abd al-Qadir, revered for his heroism during the 1948 massacres that cost him his life. An epic historical account of the Husaynis

I've read the older Hebrew edition. This is a great epic historical account of the family, from its formation as the "Husayni" family to its collapse as a nobility together with rest of Arab Palestine. The family's story is skillfully intertwined with that of the larger events taking place in the region and the world as a whole. On the down side, references are rather scant(mostly one or two per page, with only one or two sources mentioned, sometimes again and again for a certain amount of pages). Also, the author's notorious bias in favor of the Palestinian narrative of the conflict is clearly evident, mostly in his apologetic treatment of Amin al-Husayni. Still, this book sheds light on a new angle of Palestinian history that has yet to be rivaled as such.

Great book - bad publishing

Pappe has finally translated one of his first works. The history of the Husayinis is one that should be read by any scholar working on Palestine but it is also a pleasant reading for the occasional reader. Pity that the publisher didn't spot a large amount of typos and other silly mistakes.

Heart warming..

Israel Shamir dares see the human side of the Palestinian people and what he sees is mostly heartwarming. If all Israelis were made to see the same thing it would sap the basis of the state of Israel as a land for the "Chosen People". He is certainly accused of ignoring all the criminal acts committed by the Palestinians mostly to defend the land thay still have and which is being taken from them by the square meter; he seems to carry the weight of this criticism graciously.
Shamir puts the question indirectly and that question is: what do you do with five million people under your control when you cannot dare give them all the rights of citizenship, for those within Israel, and the rights of a nation for those outside. Letting all the people in the land of Palestine live together with the same rights and obligations. A dream? Not quite, but this wil require some cataclysmic changes in the world for this to happen. Look at all the cataclysms of the 20th. century and you will understand that cataclysms do not occur so seldom.

Roland Kidwell is an associate professor of management in the College of Business Administration at Niagara University (NY). He has a PhD in business administration from Louisiana State University. His research interests include withholding effort in work groups and other collectives, business ethics and human resource issues in small businesses. His research has appeared in various academic journals including the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Small Group Research and Journal of Business Ethics. He co-authored the text, HRM from A to Z, Critical questions asked & answered (2001: McGraw-Hill Irwin).

Christopher L. Martin is Dean of the Frost School of Business and holder of the Linco Eminent Scholars Chair of Business Administration at Centenary College of Louisiana. Prior to joining Centenary, Dr. Martin was professor and chair of the Department of Management and Marketing at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. In this collection of essays and case studies, the causes of deviant, as well as correct/proper, behavior in organizations are described, leading to proposals for reducing the former and inducing the latter. The approach is, essentially, behavioral, identifying antecedents ("root causes", p. xiv) of behavior which, the contributors contend, reside primarily in organizational structures and processes: "managers would do well to consider the roles [effects] that structure . . . and processes play in [causing] deviant behavior and how these organizational features could be used to effectively channel potential deviance into positive outcomes [behaviors] for organizations" (p. x). Change/modify/reform organizational structures and process and you can thereby reduce badmouthing the organization (Ch. 4), lying, bullying, and harassment in the workplace (Ch. 7, 8), organizational aggression (Ch. 10), and other types of deviant behavior while, at the same time, these changes/modifications/reforms in structures and processes can help induce and sustain behaviors that constitute--in the words of consultant and author, Robert Levering--"great place[s] to work".
Changing organizational structures and processes is a much more effective way to bring about better behaving personnel than reliance on boards of ethics, education and training in ethics, codes of ethics, and the like. The latter, since Watergate, have become part of the conventional approach to organizational deviance and are known to be largely ineffective. Only by changing "organizational features"--only by changing what personnel experience in the day-by-day execution of their work and obligations--will we optimize the results of our efforts for betterment.

Dark Light Consciousness.

I bought this book a year ago, and wanted to spend a least a month chewing on the information, one of the most powerful books on consciousness, melanin serpent powers I have read thus far, the first half of the book from pages 1-124 took time to get thought the medical jargon in learning about the different functions of the brain. after that you got a course in awakening the divine serpent energy via different techniques. Dr Bynum knows his stuff, he takes you on a journey through different mystical schools of thought on awakening the kundalini serpent, from Kemet, India, Vodun, Orisha, Dogon and even Pentecostal churches and raising the energies, I will not pretend this is an easy book to read, this is like an initiation into cosmic sciences in which the student must pay attention. on page 183 the section on Health and Breath has me more aware of my breathing throughout the day, I found myself practicing some of the exercise in the book and went to a deeper meditative state, while the frequencies on this planet has changed, leading those of us who are spiritualist into a more profound state of consciousness and easy moving in and out of a trance like state, this books breaks down the nuts and bolts of the overall matrix of how to awaken the serpent energies, this book has put me on a path to explore more of the dark light consciousness experience.

This is a must have for anyone searching for the way to start manifesting any desire, I have found that everything we need to accomplish any goal is already inside of us, we have not been taught by any school how to tap into the waiting potentially of our being. Start with daily deep breathing and meditation. Began to see what you desire to happen in your life and take your focus off of the TV, Radio and ect.All the power is in you!!!! Never let anyone tell any different!!!!!

Wonderful guide to universal truth

In this book, Dr. Bynum continues to make significant contributions to our understanding of "higher dimensions of reality". This long awaited and most recent work is a beautiful integration of the sciences including physiology, neuroanatomy, psychology and physics. By discussing the role that neuromelanin plays in the brain and the association of neuromelanin with key neural and endocrine system plexuses/pathways, Dr. Bynum has so elegantly outlined and given empirical evidence for the practice of the "Ureaus" and drawn a clear connection between it and ancient teachings. The major topics are explained in such a way that readers from a non-science background can benefit from these tested methods. The meditative process that is discussed can be practiced by anyone with dedication and discipline. He presents very compelling ideas, both medically and scientifically, that substantiate a method to reach a level of "higher consciousness" or contact with a "spiritual self".
