Amazing, inspiring story of strength & survival

I couldn't put it down. This man is recounting his story & family's of abuse. It's more than that though. It's a true account of survival & brings awareness to child abuse. Some parts are beyond sickening but the author writes wonderfully. I hope he reads this so he knows this random woman from the U.S. cares about him & will tell everyone to read this to bring awareness.

Awesome Book on London Cemeteries

This is an outstanding book for someone who wants to visit London off of the "beaten path." It has descriptions of all the cemeteries in and around London along with who is buried in the cemeteries. What I found upon reading this book is that it offers very interesting historical perspectives, along with nice photographs. Architectural elements are also covered. If you plan on visiting cemeteries and have particular wishes/purposes (visiting historical figures/persons, studying funereal art and architecture etc.), reading this book will help you maximize your experience. Highgate (the large and famous one) is a very different place and experience than smaller and lesser known cemeteries, but all have a lot to offer.

It's a great way to spend Saturday afternoons reading and/or exploring.

I have now read most of Peter May's books and most have been excellent but if one is not as good as the rest then this would be it, in my opinion. As with the rest of The China Thrillers it is obvious that a lot of background research has been done and this comes through as it gives the reader the opportunity to learn a lot about present day Chinese culture. But I think it is Margaret's rough side which detracts from the contribution of the main character. Never mind, I still finished the book.

Good Characters and well thought out plot

Another good story by Peter May. His stories focus on the characters, not so much the action. The stories have good dialog, a well thought out plot and interesting bad guys (antagonist for the English majors). As is typical for a P. May story, there are usually a few twists that are unexpected, however if you read critically, there is usually a hint (almost a foreshadow, again for the English majors - no offense intended).

About the Author
"Helen Deresky" (Ph.D., Concordia University, Montreal) is Professor of Strategic Management and International Management and Director of the International Business Program at the State University of New York, Plattsburgh. She is a Canadian Studies Associate and a member of the U.S.-Canada Business Council. She is a consultant for the Institute for International Business Education, Research, and Training (IBERT). Professor Deresky was born in England and worked and consulted in various industries in Europe for a number of years before settling in the United States and entering academia. Since then, her research interests have been in strategic implementation and also in management in Latin American countries and in Canada, for which she has developed teaching modules under U.S.D.E. research grants. Professor Deresky has published in various journals, including the "Strategic Management Journal, Organizational Dynamics," and the "Journal of Business Education," and has presented papers at numerous conferences in the United States and Canada. She consults for regional universities and colleges wishing to internationalize their curricula. She teaches courses in strategic management and international management. This is her fourth book on the subject of international management.
